Catharsis Arts Foundation supports collaborative artwork initiated by the sculptor Prune Nourry, and enables art to have a long-term, positive impact on the communities, women, artists and artisans who contribute to and inspire the artwork’s creation.
The foundation encourages the making of artworks with and by underrepresented communities, enabling them to tell their stories. The collective art installations then tour around the world (in Africa, Asia, Americas) to raise awareness before returning to their country of origin and funding their preservation, as well as educational and artistic programs for the local communities.
The foundation is inspired by Prune Nourry’s profound belief that art and sculpture can be a tool to recreate balance in a deeply unbalanced world.

On April 4th, 2024, in Lagos, Catharsis Arts Foundation and its affiliate in Nigeria, S.A.B. Art Foundation, together with the Chibok Parents Association, organized an event to honor the Chibok Girls, a decade after the tragic abduction of 276 schoolgirls by the militant group Boko Haram.
This event featured the screening of Statues Also Breathe, a film portraying the girls' experiences and the continuing effects on their community. The discussion that followed with members of the Chibok community provided a platform for engagement and reasserted the shared goal of ensuring the safe return of every girl still missing.
A decade on, the urgency of this issue has not diminished, with the fate of many girls remaining unknown. This gathering served as a poignant reminder and a clarion call to action, emphasizing the necessity to keep their stories alive.
Statues Also Breathe is a collaborative project between the Catharsis Arts Foundation, the Department of Fine & Applied Arts of Obafemi-Awolowo University, and the families of the Chibok girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014.
It features 108 statues inspired by ancient Ife terracotta heads to highlight the ongoing struggle for girls' education and the plight of the missing girls.
Accompanying the installation, a documentary allows the community, including teachers, students, and parents of the missing girls, to share their stories and perspectives, maintaining the memory of the girls and promoting global awareness.
